A transformative works policy refers to guidelines or rules set by intellectual property (IP) holders, governing how fans/creators can use their original works, such as fanfiction, in derivative or transformative ways.
The following policies apply to my fanfiction on AO3 and are in place to ensure that fandom remains free, easily accessible, and so we don't get smacked in the face with copyright infringement notices and/or folding chairs.
Translation
You are free to translate my fanfiction and post it on platforms of your choice provided you credit me as the original author and include a link to the original story on AO3.
Other creative works
You are welcome to translate, create podfics, remix, create art or write your own fanfiction about any of the fanfiction universes I have created.
Bookbinding
You are free to create and distribute typesets and bind my fanfiction for your personal use or as a gift/exchange, provided there is no exchange of money between parties. I do not currently provide permission for commissioned binding.
Sale and distribution of my fanfiction
You may not sell any version of my fanfiction, including: printed copies, binds, typesets (including behind a paywall), digital copies (eg. PDFs), etc. You do not have my permission to print and distribute copies of any version of my fanfiction, even if no profit is being made.
Fan art
Please remember to check the policies of any artists who have created art based on my fanfiction. I do not speak on behalf of these artists and cannot provide permission concerning the use of their work.
